About Julia Maki

Real estate in Northern Minnesota isn’t just Julia Maki’s profession—it’s part of her life. Raised in Cook, Minnesota, Julia has spent decades living, working, and building strong connections throughout the region. That firsthand experience gives her clients an advantage when buying or selling everything from year-round homes to cabins, lakefront properties, and recreational land.

Julia is a licensed real estate broker and part owner of B.I.C. Realty, bringing both leadership and in-depth market knowledge to every transaction. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Gustavus Adolphus College and built a strong foundation in land use and community planning through her service on St. Louis County’s Planning Commission and Board of Adjustment. Her previous role as Planning Director for Greenwood Township provided her with valuable insight into zoning, development regulations, and waterfront property considerations—expertise that directly benefits her real estate clients.

When she’s not working with buyers and sellers, Julia fully embraces the Northern Minnesota lifestyle. She enjoys fishing, boating, camping, gardening, and horseback riding, and lives with her family on a hobby farm in Embarrass. Much of her free time is spent at her family’s cabins on Lake Vermilion and Crane Lake, experiences that deepen her understanding of resort and second-home ownership.

Community involvement is also central to who Julia is. She serves as a volunteer firefighter and first responder, is secretary of the Vermilion Penguin Snowmobile Club, an active member of the Cook Lions Club, and contributes to several other local volunteer efforts.

Above all, Julia is passionate about providing exceptional, personalized service. Her knowledge, professionalism, and commitment to her clients—combined with her RSPS certification—ensure that each client feels confident, informed, and supported from the first conversation to a successful closing.
